We have had several successful muscle up clinics in the Denver area these past couple weekends! We visited Front Range CrossFit on July 15th, CrossFit Julia on July 22nd and most recently, CrossFit Sanitas on July 23rd. We introduced athletes to a new approach to our clinics. Rather than setting the expectation that you will magically get your first muscle up by the end of the two hour clinic, we instead wanted to give you the tools and resources to continue practicing and drilling on your own. It’s in your best interest that your first muscle up attempts are safe, efficient and not overly-taxing that could lead to injury. Remember - if you keep practicing the wrong movements, you’re going to get really good at the wrong movements.
We also opened athletes' eyes with the surprising difficulty of ring rows. It easy to think ring rows are a breeze because they are used to scale pull-ups in a workout. However, ring rows are useful for those extra inches of pull in the muscle up and increasing your end range of motion.
